    1 dead in Germany after passenger train hits cows

    FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — German police say one person has died when a passenger train derailed after it ran into a herd of cattle.

    The crash happened Friday at Bargum about 120 miles north of Hamburg in northern Germany at about 5:45 p.m. (1645 GMT). The train was on its way from the town of Sylt to Hamburg.

    In addition to the fatality, police spokesman Bernd Schindler said two other people sustained slight injuries. Nearly two dozen other passengers were being put up at a nearby hotel.
