The 10 Best Career Opportunities Right Now

With the latest unemployment numbers out today showing that unemployment has dropped to 8.6 percent, it might seem as if things are finally looking up. But, a closer look at the numbers reveals that the actual number of new jobs, just 140,000, isn't really much to cheer about. However, the job situation isn't completely hopeless. There are some occupations and industries, however, that have experienced significant growth in the last year and are still hiring.

According to the Monster Employment Index, which monitors online job demand for workers based on occupation and industry, there are many industries that are hiring. The top five occupations to experience greater demand from November 2010 to November 2011, and their rate of increase, were:

    • Personal care and service (65 percent)
    • Transportation and material moving (39 percent)
    • Architecture and engineering (35 percent)
    • Installation, maintenance and repair (22 percent)
    • Computer and mathematical (19 percent)

The survey also looks at online recruiting patterns of industries rather than specific occupations. The top five growth industries from November 2010 to November 2011, and their rate of increase, were:

    • Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting (39 percent)
    • Mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction (35 percent)
    • Transportation and warehousing (31 percent)
    • Other services (21 percent)
    • Information (19 percent)

The survey also looked at what metro areas showed the biggest rise in recruiting. They were:

    • Cincinnati (36 percent)
    • Indianapolis (31 percent)
    • Detroit (27 percent)
    • Cleveland (26 percent)
    • Baltimore (26 percent)

Someone tell me how being unemployed longer than 2 years makes you no longer unemployed. Just because you stop counting people doesn't mean they aren't unemployed!

Engineering salaries in Ohio stink, especially in government. The only way to get ahead is to know someone in the right area of government. Most of us will retire on modest incomes.

Wow, the top 5 occupation to experience greater demand,,,,Architecture and Engineering (35 percent). I'm one of those unemployed Architect since 03/2009 in Chicago and still unable to find employment. I'm either overqualified or underqualified even when I tried to apply to Walmart, Target, McDonald's and even when there are job posting in my field of Architecture I have to compete against over 500 resumes for that one position. Just done a follow up call to a construction company that I applied for and the position is already filled.

Are all those cities the ones hiring because everyone had already lost their job, and now some of them are getting them back?

And while the GOP and BUSH sat back, Rumsfeld stole 2.5 TRILLION, America and the world were entering a DEPRESSION, and they DID NOTHING except give your money to BANKERS. This is worse than when they made friends with FORCED CHILD LABOR COMMUNIST CHINA in 1973 when the GOPsold away America to CHINA.

TAX THE RICH OBAMA - Tricle down Bush Ecomomics isn't working! Many of them send their business out of the country, which is why we lost most of the jobs in the first place! They have to many loop holes to pay even less taxes! They obviously can afford it more than any one else??? Hows does 1% of the population have more capital than 99% ??? Havn't They have recieved the biggest TAX breaks long enough???

Isn't it obviouse where the new taxes should fall??? Yes its obvious - on the biggest winners of our system! They earned their money here in good Ole USA! They use rest of us to make their big pay checks and bonuses! And they use their power to keep the rest of us paying most of the debt !Why do you think their filthy rich???

Let them pay a fair share of TAXES to reduce the debt and shore up our government. Our Goverment policies made them "the richest" in the first place! What would a small percentage of Fair Tax increase be like, maybe a nickle to them????

Saw this today 2 Corinthians 8:13-14; "Our desire is not that others be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality."
