The 10 Best Futurama Moments from the Simpsons–Futurama Crossover

Schedule nowThe Simpsons S26E06: "Simpsorama"

Good news, everyone! Futurama is back! Well, it was back—for one morenight—as The Simpsons temporarily revived the sci-fi comedy with Sunday's long-overdue Futurama crossover. And for Futurama fans, "Simpsorama" was outstanding. In fact, "Simpsorama" felt more like Futurama than The Simpsons, with a perfectly zany plot and so many nods to the fallen and beloved 'toon that it may as well be heretofore known as the lost Futurama episode.

But rather than rattle off a bunch of different ways to say I enjoyed it, the Futurama geek in me would rather list the episode's 10 best Futurama moments. Here they are:

10. Marge and Leela Meet

What happens when two weirdo women cross paths? They struggle—and fail—to not mention the other's physical anomaly.

9. Why not Zoidberg?

"Looks like everyone gets a turn to say something! This concludes my turn." And that was it for Zoidberg.

8. Bender throws a few back at Moe's Bar

The future's greatest alcoholic hung out with one of the present's greatest alcoholics at Springfield's famous watering hole, and even though their lives were separated by a thousand years, Bender fit in like a regular. He even bought the entire bar a round using fake future space bucks and hooked up with the juke box!

7. The couch gag and the end tag

The couch gag saw the Simpson family's famous couch replaced by Futurama's best supine robot, Hedonismbot, and the pleasure-seeking machine massaged Homer and fed him grapes. It was cool! But the end tag was even cooler, because Futurama had one of the best opening sequences and theme songs of any show ever, and The Simpsons' writers paid tribute to that by transforming the end credits for "Simpsorama" into a Simpson-ized mash-up of Futurama's intro. And that meant Flanders in a tube!

6. Homer and Bender are BFFs, even in their sleep

The robromance between Bender and Homer was much more endearing than Homer's recent friend-fest with Family Guy's Peter Griffin, and the duo hit their peak while sharing a nap on the couch. As usual, Bender talked in his sleep with the familiar mantra of, "Kill all humans"—and then Homer joined in on the slumber spiel with, "Start with Flanders." Awwww.

5. Bender and Maggie kill horses at the race track

Okay, it was just Bender, but Maggie was an accomplice. And the equinicide was made funnier when cop Lou said, "Looks like a robot killing horses over there," and Chief Wiggum replied, "Oh, a 608?"

4. Scruffy commits suicide, but doesn't

As Bart's gremlin descendants took over the future, disaster struck the Planet Express when company janitor (and shareholder) Scruffy lost his mustache. What life without a mustache is worth living? None. So Scruffy committed suicide in the episode's most shocking moment, and who can blame him? That mustache is totally rad.

However, future tech is something else, and in the closing credits, Scruffy was seen alive and well—and headless—cleaning up the streets.

3. "Crossovers are hell!"

Okay, not a Futurama moment, but the nod to Matt Groening's original 'toon Life in Hell was too awesome not to make this list. Hello Binky and Bongo!

2. The glorious return of Hypnotoad

The mesmerizing gigantic amphibian's appearance didn't make a whole lot of sense but—ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!

1. The raw, pure emotion of a familiar fuzzy face

It does't matter that Panucci's Pizza is actually in New York City instead of Springfield. All continuity errors are forgiven because "Simpsorama" gave us a glance at Fry's faithful dog Seymore in the best cameo of the episode. As we learned in the gut-punching Futurama episode "Jurassic Bark," Seymore *sniff* waited outside of Fry's *sniff* place of employment forever after Fry was zapped *cry* a millennium *bawl* into *waterfall tears* the *uncontrollable seizure of sadness* future. Good to see you again, buddy, even though it tore my heart out.
