10 Things We Learned Backstage At The ACM Rehearsals
During the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards rehearsals, we had the opportunity to go behind the scenes. We scoped the scene, checked out restricted areas, and found some seriously awesome clues that can only mean that this Sunday’s ACM Awards will be amazing!
1. Stay to the right!
During Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton’s press conference, Executive Producer Jack Sussman shared that the “scale of this event is enormous. We started coming in on March 18th. We’ve loaded about 138 semis so far.” He wasn’t kidding about the semis, we had our backs up against the wall anytime one came by!
2. If you want a drink, you’d better saddle up!
What better way to “Drink a Beer” than on genuine leather saddles?
3. Oh yes, there will be fire.
Halfway through rehearsals, a loud voice boomed, “Back away from stage! Testing pyro!” Given how many times they warned the performers and staff, Jason Aldean won’t be the only one “Burnin’ It Down!”
4. Brooks & Dunn have something big planned.
Given the amount of equipment, lighting, cords, and decorations labeled “Brooks & Dunn,” we’re all in for one crazy country show!
5. Even the production rides in style.
Nathan, a part of the production crew, stopped on by to show off his Dallas Cowboys themed cart. Now that’s riding in style!
6. Romance is in the air.
The artists went all out with not only their productions, but with their onstage decor. We couldn’t help but feel the romance with all of these candelabras about.
7. We’re about to bunker down.
Everything and everyone in Cowboy Stadium moves like a well-oiled machine. Production crews scurried around in all black while whispering on their walkie-talkies, artists moved swiftly on and off stage for rehearsals, and the press were feverishly taking notes. Our CBS Crew is too excited to experience the show!
8. Even the artwork is musical.
Around every corner is glitz and glamour. This glass-mosaic guitar is over eight feet tall and the light bounces off of it beautifully. Talk about a statement piece!
9. The secrets are on the tape.
Keeping a keen eye is essential to getting the most out of the backstage experience. Sure, the items on top of the rolling platforms are super cool, but the real secrets are hidden in plain sight, like the steel guitar we found that belongs to none other than the Luke Bryan!
10. Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton are going to be the coolest hosts again!
Luke and Blake rolled into their Friday press conference and had the press in stitches! We heard great information about the history of the show and some of the amazing stuff that’s in store, but the two country kings were total naturals. When they weren’t talking about the show, they were cracking hilarious jokes at each other. We can’t wait to see these two on stage this Sunday!
