11 Things You Didn't Know About Gigi Hadid

The 20-year-old supermodel Gigi Hadid exploded onto the scene so quickly it didn’t really give us time to find out much about her.

She is known for many things, such as being a catwalk Queen, BFFs with Kendall Jenner and for being romantically involved with Joe Jonas. However, there is much more to the beauty than we thought and we fell in love with her even more finding out these 11 facts.

1. Well for starters, her real name isn’t Gigi. That was actually a nickname given to her by her mother as a child. Her real name is Jelena Noura Hadid, which does seems like a bit of a mouthful, so we can see why the nickname is needed.

2. One of her all time dreams was to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel and it seems dreams do come true. Gigi is going to be walking in the next VS fashion show along with her bestie Kendall Jenner. We literally cannot wait.

3. Gigi definitely knows what she’s doing, she landed her first modelling job when she was only two-years-old for Guess. She then went on the star in Guess Kids before giving up her modelling days to enjoy a normal childhood - very wise idea.

4. If you’re wondering how someone turns out so darn beautiful, well, she is a mixture of Dutch and Palestinian descent - we know, what a combo. Her mum is a Dutch supermodel Yolanda Foster and her dad Mohamed Hadid is a very successful property developer. They divorced when Gigi was young, but remain great friends.

5. It seems modelling runs in the family. Not only was her mum a supermodel, but her younger sister Bella Hadid is also a successful model. Proof that it’s all in the genes.

6. Now this one is a little sad. Gigi is the only one of her siblings who doesn’t suffer from Lyme Disease. Her mum Yolanda, sister Bella and brother Anwar all suffer from the illness.

7. Like most successful models, Gigi has also done a bit of acting and appeared in the 2011 short film Virgin Eyes. We wonder if she will be following in Cara Delevingne’s footsteps anytime soon.

8. She is a lot closer to BFF Kendall Jenner than you even think. Gigi’s step-dad David Foster is Kendall and Kylie Jenner’s half-brother’s former step-dad. Basically, David Foster was once married to supermodel Linda Thompson. Linda, prior to that, was married to Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner). They had two sons Brandon and Brody Jenner and David helped to raise them when Bruce then went on to marry Kris Kardashian Jenner. Bruce and Kris then had Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Confused? So are we.

9. Beauty and brains: Gigi planned to study criminal psychology at The New School in New York prior to her modelling career taking off. Now that’s quite a cool back-up plan.

10. Gigi kinda broke girl code by going out with (her now ex) Joe Jonas. Joe is the ex of one of her besties - Taylor Swift, who is said to be fine with it, but we are not going to lie we don’t know if we would be so forgiving.

11. Don’t get on the wrong side of Gigi, because she will tell you where to stick it. The model recently shut down all body shamers with a positive text post on her Instagram and we loved her for it. Virtual applause all round.
