13-inch Retina MacBook Pro could have ‘unprecedented’ battery design, no discrete GPU

Apple’s (AAPL) 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is coming and some alleged photos of the laptop’s smaller display have leaked, courtesy of Chinese website WeiPhone. According to WeiPhone, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will have a design that’s very similar to the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the same thermal design Apple touted at WWDC. The leak shows one contact pad suggesting that once again, the 13-inch model won’t have its own discrete graphics chip and will likely be stuck with Intel’s (INTC) HD Integrated graphics.

However, in terms of ports, the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro should have everything the 15-inch model has including two Thunderbolt ports, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack.WeiPhone also claims the notebook will have an “unprecedented battery design.” Whether that means it will have a bigger battery that lasts longer than current MacBook Pros is unclear. The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro is expected to have a resolution of 2560 x 1600.
