It is quite possible I am living out my childhood dreams.

For those not privy to the holiday culture in Australia, Halloween is not one we seem to embrace. Those we do, we do well — but Halloween continues to be one of the holidays far more entrenched in American culture.

Sure there are the smaller neighborhoods that go trick-or-treating, supermarkets certainly try to capitalize by selling every orange and black product they can find, and I’m quite sure the local pharmacy sells out of cotton wool. But it’s safe to say, it pretty much ends there.

So, once you take that into account, and throw in my often penchant for the weird and wonderful when it comes to footwear, it’s clear to see why i’m writing this story. I love a classic black pump as much as the next girl, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit there are certain shoes (insert DSquared2’s ice skate heel boots) I’ve been waiting for an appropriate moment to feature. Simply for the shock value if nothing else — be honest, you’re hard pressed to think of the last time you saw a shoe like this.

For those of you ready to channel your inner Gaga à la American Horror Story: Hotel, FN fully supports the decision (as long as you stick to her style, not actions) And boy are there some shoes in this gallery that would do the trick (excuse the pun).

And if you’re more interested in a fashion-forward style that can escape the wardrobe more than once a year, grab a pair of Mara & Mine’s trademark Jem Skull slipper (after all, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner & Margot Robbie all own pairs).
