14 Reasons Why Kris Jenner is the Ultimate Momager (and Deserves to Trademark That Phrase)

Kris Jenner doesn’t already own the title “momager”?

According to TMZ, Kris has filed legal documents to trademark “momager” for all entertainment-related purposes, as she already owns the trademark to “momager” for personal management services and reality show usage. (It shouldn’t be that shocking; her daughters are trying to trademark “Kendall” and “Kylie.”)

Here are 14 reasons why she deserves to profit off the phrase “momager” (mainly, because she’s already profiting off everything else in her life):

1. She created Kim Kardashian.

Both literally -- Kris gave birth to her -- and in a business sense. Kris knew that, while a sex tape wasn’t ideal, she could use it as leverage to turn Kim into one of the biggest star in the world. (Which, Kim Kardashian is. Whether you like it or not.)

2. Then built their empire on her.

The Kardashian brand is built on the back of Kim, but it was built by Kris. Kris manages all six of her kids’ careers -- as well as her own, of course. While they originally may have been “famous for being famous,” the Kardashian-Jenners have redefined celebrity and have their own million-dollar business juggernaut to show for it.

3. She encourages her kids to try new things...and gets 10 percent commission.

She helped Kim, and later Khloe and Kourtney, and even later Kylie and Kendall, try their hand at music (remember Kim’s hit single, “Jam”?), acting, designing, modeling, etc. But she also realized they could just get paid to be themselves. Hence...

4. She’s executive producer of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

E!

Kris has commodified her -- and her entire family’s -- day-to-day life. KUWTK and the summer spin-offs (So and So Take Such and Such) film “10 to 12 hours each day,” claims The New York Times. They’re being filmed at all times, basically, and getting paid for it.

5. She won’t make her kids do anything she isn’t willing to do.

6. She spun Keeping Up With the Kardashians into her own show.

A daytime talk show called Kris. Naturally. She brought on her children, including son-in-law Kanye West, to make announcements -- and boost her ratings. Ultimately, the show failed. But not for a lack of Kardashian appeal.

7. She knows not to bite the hand that feeds her.

She has subsequently told each of her other kids that they are her favorite at various times. Kris might be the brains behind the operation, but we all know who the face of the company is. A momager is a business position -- one that someone could always be fired from. (See also: Beyoncé let her dadager go.)

8. And how to keep her family in the spotlight.

Even if that’s just a front row seat at a fashion show, Kris knows that more people will pay attention to Kim then whichever designer is showing. Guess who always gets a seat in the front row next to Kim too.

9. Back in 2012, when no one really cared about Kendall and Kylie, Kris got them a modeling job on America’s Next Top Model.

Then made sure she secured herself a spot right at the center of that photo shoot too. And she was a guest judge that episode, because obviously she was.

10. And now Kendall is an actual top model.

She’s done runway for the likes of Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Marc Jacobs and has covered legitimate international fashion magazines. Guess who tagged along to Fashion Week with her?

11. She knows that family supports family.

In terms of brand loyalty, of course.

12. She found a way to support Bruce...and get a KUWTK two-night special.

If Kris had appeared in Bruce Jenner's groundbreaking interview with Diane Sawyer, would as many people have been interested in a follow-up special on E! that focused on the Kardashians? Shrewdly, Kris and her children remained off camera for ABC -- instead, they tweeted their support -- then secured two hours of primetime for themselves.

13. She knows how to protect her family. And her business.

Apparently when you walk into Kris’ home, there’s a stack of non-disclosure agreements in her foyer with a sign that reads, “What we say here, what we see here, let it stay here, when we leave here.” (This according to a New York Times profile on her.)

14. And she knows that, as a momager, the line between "mom" and "manager" tends to blurs.

Twitter

Just look at her Twitter profile: “MOM, MANAGER, MOMAGER, LOVER OF LIFE, LOVER OF CHRIST.” The mom and manager are only a comma apart. But she’s also made sure her family is secure for life -- Kim made a reported $28 million last year alone -- and isn’t that what parents are supposed to do?
