HEFEI, China (AP) — The first day of a secretive murder trial involving the wife of disgraced Chinese politician Bo Xilai has ended. There has been no word on when a verdict will be delivered.
Gu Kailai and a household aide face charges of murdering Neil Heywood, a British businessman who had close ties to the Bo family.
The trial is being held the Hefei Intermediate People's Court in eastern China. The accused are being represented by government-appointed lawyers from Anhui province, of which Hefei is the capital.
The vice director of the provincial government news office, Zheng Mingwu, said the trial had ended for the day. He did not immediately give any other details or say how long the trial would last.
International media were not allowed into the court.
