2 who admitted roles in teen burning to testify

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Two youths who acknowledged dousing a Florida middle school classmate with alcohol and setting him on fire will testify in the trial of the attack's alleged ringleader.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Denver Colorado Jarvis and 18-year-old Jesus Mendez will take the stand Wednesday. On trial is 17-year-old Matthew Bent, who faces a potential 30-year prison sentence if convicted of attempted second-degree murder in the October 2009 attack.

Bent is accused of telling Jarvis to pour rubbing alcohol on then-15-year-old Michael Brewer following a dispute over a video game and Bent's alleged attempt to steal a Brewer family bike. Mendez pleaded no contest to flicking a lighter that set Brewer ablaze, severely burning him. Jarvis also pleaded no contest.

Brewer survived the attack after leaping into a swimming pool.
