2 new groups seek to block Palisades tower in NJ

2 more groups move to join suit against planned LG Electronics tower along Palisades in NJ

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. (AP) -- Two more organizations are seeking to join a lawsuit against LG Electronics over a planned 143-foot corporate tower that would pierce the tree line of the Palisades cliffs on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River.

The Natural Resources Defense Council and the New Jersey Conservation Foundation said Thursday the project in Englewood Cliffs would taint one of the most iconic scenic vistas in the nation.

The Palisades Interstate Park features cliffs rising more than 300 feet above the western banks of the Hudson and is a National Historic Landmark.

LG Electronics broke ground on the project in November after being cleared to build above what had been a 35-foot height limit. Opponents are appealing a judge's decision in favor of the project.
