2 Muslim men kicked off flight sue airlines

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Two Muslim men who were kicked off an airplane in May are suing Delta Air Lines Inc. and a regional carrier that operated the flight from Memphis to Charlotte, N.C.

The suit was filed Monday in federal court against Delta and Atlantic Southeast Airlines Inc.

It said Masudur Rahman and Mohamed Zaghloul went through several security checks. It claims the pilot wanted them off the plane because he thought their presence would make other passengers uncomfortable. The men are described in the suit as having beards and "traditional Arabic clothing." It seeks compensation for losses and injuries as well as punitive damages.

Atlantic Southeast and Delta issued a statement condemning discrimination but declining to comment further.

The two were traveling to a conference on anti-Muslim discrimination.

Discrimination.....Black entertainment television, NAACP, Ms. Black America, do you see White entertainment tv, WAAWP, Ms. Caucasian America. Discrimination runs rampant throughout the world, not just the USA. Women, blacks, hispanics, whites, christians, muslim, asian, gay, straight. In fact I am discriminating by not mentioning someone! No matter where you go someone will find a reason to discrimnate against you. Deal with it. The real world is not a lovefest. If you do not like the USA, GO HOME.

Always smart to make yourself different and then sue for not being treated the same.

What a joke. Wear a pair of shorts as a female in Saudi Arabia and you won't believe what they do to you.

Why does it seem Muslims demand so very much more for their own precious rights than they are willing to concede to others.....especially non Muslims.

The first step to becoming Americanized is. Learning to sue big companies.

I sure hope they didn't get tossed just because of what they wore and their beard. I would like to see Delta's version of the story. I would think there has to be more to it than what was written here for an ailine to refuse to fly you.

Didn't this article leave out a few more details? Like weren't they praying in Arabic before the flight and passengers reported the behavior to the pilot?

Isn't it funny that they don't want to be discriminated against but they force their women to wrap themselves in cloth from head to toe and won't even let them show their eyes. Talk to us about non-discrimination when you learn how to NOT discriminate yourselves.

Can we Americans sue Muslim countries for making Christians second class citizens in Muslim countries?
    • Marlin  •  2 mths ago
I so wish I knew the solid truths about the Muslim faith so I could trust them or know why I shouldn't. I hate to discriminate and I hate discrimination but I understand why it exists against Muslims. I don't blame the pilot and I would feel uncomfortable too.

Private companies should be able to do as they please. 'Management has the right to refuse service to anyone'.

I wonder if the Christions could sue if they were kicked off the Moslem airlines?

I welcome anyone to the USA who comes here legally. However, I do not appreciate - nor will I stand for - them trying to force their beliefs on me. If your homeland was so bad you had to leave, why would you want to continue to pretend you are there???????????????
