2 theater chains cancel rave documentary showings

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two theater chains have canceled showings of the "Electric Daisy Carnival Experience" documentary after violence erupted outside the premiere of the film in Hollywood earlier this week.

The Los Angeles Times reports Friday that Regal and AMC theaters cited "the incident in Los Angeles" in their decision not to show the film about the Electric Daisy Carnival rave.

Police in riot gear were called in Wednesday night after some fans became unruly, throwing bottles and damaging three police cruisers. Three were arrested and police say more are expected after identifications are made from video.

Insomniac Events, which promotes the Electric Daisy Carnival, said Friday the film will still be shown in hundreds of theaters nationwide and is disappointed that Regal and AMC canceled their showings based on a few troublemakers.

So I guess I have to do research to figure out what this story was actually about. AP has started really going downhill with the quality of its reporting.

In LA a riot can start because someone sneezed the wrong way. Good place to stay away from.

The part of the story that is missing is why people riot over it! Great reporting, AP!

Exceptionally poor quality "journalism." They should hire a real reporter, if indeed one still exists in the latrinic environment of today's media.

Ha, I live in Hollywood and was walking home from work asking,"What the hell?" I was gonna hang out to see what was going on...untill I noticed the LAPD putting on riot gear. Time to go home, quickly, covering head.

Seriously? Why were people rioting? Now I have to use google to find out what happened? Why, Where, What, How, and Who people - it's not that hard.

I might go see this movie if I only knew what it was about. If this guy went to journalism school then the media business is in worse shape than I thought.?

What they need to cancel are any shows..anywhere showing the Kardashian girls, Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson..anything where women's IQ's are under 35.. like these golddigging bimbos.

You do realize, an electronic music festival does not make it a "rave", right?

What terrible reporting. You're not even going to mention WHY the riots started, and (therefore) why it's silly for the police to assume they'll happen again?
