If you've got kids, you know how expensive it can be to equip them for the new school year. Clothes, paper, even office supplies are on the "must have" list for many families, and the costs add up quickly. Many states now offer back to school tax break days (or tax holidays) to offset the expense.

Alabama
August 5-7
Clothing up to $100 , computers under $750, books under $30 and school supplies (including art supplies) under $50: 4% ; discount. Check here for a list of those participating localities.
Connecticut

Clothing and footwear under $300, including items placed on layaway during the exclusion period.
Florida
August 12-14
Any clothing, footwear, and certain accessories $75 or less, or certain school supplies $15 or less are included. Books are not tax exempt. Download a complete list here.

Louisiana

Mississippi

New Mexico

South Carolina
