The weather has turned colder, and winter is upon us. It's the time when every motorcyclists's fancy turns from riding bikes to dreaming about bikes. The Progressive International Motorcycle Shows present the motorcycle industry with a prime opportunity to capture those dreams with the rollout of next year's new motorcycle models, parts and accessories.
The Progressive International Motorcycle Shows operate as a tour across the United States, stopping at convention centers in 12 cities.
Upcoming stops include Seattle, Washington (December 16 - 18); Novi, Michigan (January 6- 8); Washington, DC (January 13 - 15); New York City (January 20 - 22); Cleveland, Ohio (January 27 - 29); Minneapolis, Minnesota (February 3 - 5); Chicago, Illinois (February 10 - 12); Charlotte, North Carolina (February 24 - 26) and Daytona Beach, Florida (March 14 - 17).
Last weekend the tour alighted at the Long Beach Convention Center in Southern California. Highlights from the event included the unveiling of the new Victory Hard Ball, an $18,999 touring bike with hard bags and tall "ape hanger" handlebars; Signing sessions with drag racing legend Rickey Gadson, racer Ben Spies and "World's Fastest Woman on a Motorcycle" Leslie Porterfield; and Kawasaki's high tech Design-A-Bike, an interactive digital wall display that allows consumers the opportunity to virtually design their own paint and graphics package.
BRP, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, Star, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha will be represented at each stop on the tour, while BMW, Victory, Indian and Zero will only participate at limited locations.
Admission to the Progressive International Motorcycle Show is $15 per adult/$6 per children aged 6 - 11 at most venues, except for the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, where prices are $18 per adult/$8 per child. Admission is free at the tour's final stop in Daytona Beach.
