3 accused of stealing over $100K in appliances from Tampa Bay area homes

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hillsborough County detectives arrested three people connected to a series of thefts from new homes in the Tampa Bay area, according to a release.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested Alberto Gomez Sardinas, 32; Jose Hernandez O’Relly, 36; and Yansiel Consuegra, 24, after the suspects were caught selling stolen appliances taken from newly constructed homes.

Detectives said the trio sold the stolen appliances out of a home on South Kinds Avenue in Brandon and a storage facility on West Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. Gomez Sardinas was also accused of publishing the stolen goods online to sell them.

According to the release, the appliances were taken from homes across Hillsborough, Marion, Hernando, Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Investigators said they recovered over $100,000 in stolen appliances.

“I am incredibly proud of our detectives for meticulously following every lead in this case, leading to the arrest and recovery of more than $100,000 worth of stolen property,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We will not tolerate individuals who commit crimes for personal gain through illegal activities. Rest assured, they will be held accountable for their actions.”

In addition to the appliances, deputies said they also found that O’Reilly’s Dodge Big Horn was an unreported stolen vehicle that had its VIN number changes.

Gomez Sardinas and O’Reily were both charged with four counts of dealing in stolen property and other crimes. Yansiel Consuegra was charged with dealing in stolen property.

Other charges are pending.
