    Halloween is quickly approaching, which means it is time to pick out you pumpkins for the holiday. If you live in Chicago, you can either grab a pumpkin at the closest grocery store, or you can plan a trip to one of the many pumpkin patches outside of the city. Here is a quick guide to the best pumpkin patches in the area.

    Bengston's Pumpkin Farm

    13341 W. 151st St., Homer Glen, Illinois

    Bengston's Pumpkin Farm has much more than just pumpkins and is a great place to spend the day with the family. The farm offers hayrides, pig races, a petting zoo, pony rides, and a haunted barn for the kids. Adults can enjoy hot apple cider and pumpkin spice cappuccino. There is a full menu of food and snacks in case you get hungry. This year, Bengstons has lowered the price of admission. Everyone over age 11 gets in for $11.99, kids ages 3-10 get in for $10.99, and all kids under 3 years of age are free. You can print up a coupon for $1 off admission through the farm's website.

    Sonny Acres Farm

    Sonny Acres Farm is open year-round and has special events year-round. In the fall, the farm opens up the pumpkin patch to visitors. A haunted hayride helps everyone get in the Halloween spirit. The farm also boasts a petting zoo, pony rides, wagon rides, a haunted barn, and a Halloween costume shop. Admission to the farm is free, but the cost varies for each attraction. Tickets good towards each area cost $1 each. If you purchase a sheet of 40, you can get $5 worth of tickets for free. You can find specific pricing information for each attraction on their website.

    Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch

    Goebbert's Pumpkin Patch is full of pumpkins and much more. The petting zoo at Goebbert's features a 25-foot tall mountain made of woods that is home to several goats. They also offer camel rides, pony rides, pig races, train rides, a haunted mine, a corn maze, and a magic show. The Farmer's Wife Café offers a full menu of food, or you can buy sweets at the fudge and nut shop. Admission for Geobbert's is $8 per person on weekdays and $10 on weekends. All children under 2 years of age are admitted for free. All rides are an additional fee.
