It's beginning to look a lot like winter as Maritimes hit with second snowstorm
HALIFAX - Another blast of wintry weather has cancelled some schools and flights in the Maritimes.
Winter storm and snowfall warnings are in effect for Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and southeastern New Brunswick, just days after the region was slammed with heavy snow and howling winds.
Environment Canada is calling for between 15 and 30 centimetres of snow with lesser amounts expected along Nova Scotia's Atlantic coast before the snow switches to rain.
Strong gusts are also forecast along with blowing snow.
In Halifax, a thick layer of freshly fallen snow has blanketed streets and sidewalks still covered in ice from the last storm.
Several flights in and out of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport have been cancelled or delayed.
The weather service says the storm will spread across Newfoundland later today, dumping between 15 and 40 centimetres of snow by Thursday.
A third storm is being tracked for Sunday for the Atlantic region.
