LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a woman found wounded in a Watts home after a police standoff with a gunman has died — bringing the death toll to three.
Spokesman Richard French confirms the woman died at a hospital.
Officers went to the home at around 3 a.m. Friday and found a man mortally wounded in a pickup truck. Police say they got into a battle with a gunman who then holed up in the home and continued firing at officers.
Two small children eventually left the home and told police that their mother and father had been shot.
SWAT officers entered the home at around 5 a.m. to find the woman wounded and the man dead of a self-inflicted head wound.
A year-old child was found unharmed inside.
