3rd picket of Cosmopolitan on Las Vegas Strip set

As contract talks drag, 3rd picket of Cosmopolitan casino on Las Vegas Strip set

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Sin City's largest, most powerful union plans to picket the Las Vegas Strip next week for the third time this year.

Culinary Union leaders say they have stalled on major issues with Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas owner Deutsche Bank after nearly two years of negotiations to establish a contract. At issue are wages, health care and job security.

Workers plan to protest on June 14.

The Cosmopolitan, which was built by the German investment bank after its original developer defaulted, is one of just a handful of non-unionized casinos on the Strip.

A majority of Cosmopolitan service workers signed cards in 2010 saying they wanted representation.

Before the pickets began this year, the union had not protested on the Strip for a decade.
