On April 23, Sheriff’s personnel learned that inmate Froylan Armenta, 23, of Pinole, had attempted to smuggle the drugs during his re-booking process.

After searching Armenta, deputies discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine. Sheriff’s personnel prevented the drugs from coming into the jail, the sheriff’s office said.

Armenta was then rebooked on the following charges:

  • Possession of methamphetamine for sale

  • Transportation for sale of methamphetamine

  • Conspiracy to commit a felony

An additional follow-up investigation led to three additional suspects who were not in custody but were involved in the operation.

The individuals arrested were Guillermo J. Flores, 31, of Menlo Park; Christopher D. Merlo, 32, of San Mateo; and Ivette Duran, 34, of South San Francisco.

The three individuals were charged with the same charges as Armenta, the sheriff’s office said.
