HUBBARDSTON - Firefighters from nine local departments extinguished a two-alarm fire in a commercial garage in Hubbardston Friday, officials said.

Four people, including two firefighters, received minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.

According to a news release posted to Facebook, Hubbardston firefighters responded to 248 Gardner Road around 2:30 p.m. for reports of a blaze, and were able to see smoke from the station.

“On arrival, Hubbardston firefighters found multiple campers, boats and vehicles on fire as well as a large commercial garage,” they wrote. “An area of brush was also found to be burning.”

A second alarm was struck, and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire “before it consumed the garage or spread to more vehicles.”

Eight other local departments, including Barre, Gardner and Oakham, assisted with the response, which took about three hours total.

Two firefighters and two civilians had “minor injuries and all were treated on scene and did not require transport to the hospital.

“The fire began in a camper located behind the garage and is deemed accidental at this time,” the department wrote.
