    4 Mobile Apps for Job Seekers

    In today's whirlwind of technology, it's no surprise that mobile and tablet apps are now targeting job seekers. You'll find loads of options for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, iPad, and Windows devices that help you enhance your resume, find jobs on the go, and network with the right people. In other words, it's no surprise that 77 percent of job seekers use mobile apps during their job hunt. Let's dive in and look at some of the newest and most useful.

    1. LunchMeet

    The LunchMeet (say it out loud and you'll get it) app helps you find other people who want to network in your area. It connects through your LinkedIn account and uses your existing contacts, plus geotargeting, to find people who may want to meet for lunch or coffee to talk shop. It's a great way to get mentoring or expand your network, especially if you live in an area without many business networking events. You can essentially create your own!

    2. LinkUp

    LinkUp is job search on the go. It's not the only mobile job search app: Monster Jobs has one too, as do others. But LinkedUp's benefit is that it searches jobs only found on company sites, whereas most job boards only search those that have been submitted directly to them. The site searches through 22,000 company sites for job listings, which it updates each night. You can search jobs and save them for later, as well as get alerts when jobs in your category come in.

    3. iPQ Career Planner

    Got extra time while you're waiting at your doctor's office? Use the time to brush up on your career skills with the iPQ Career Planner app. You can take an assessment to determine the jobs for which you're suited. The app looks at your skills and makes recommendations for related jobs. It's particularly excellent for recent grads or those who want a managerial role. In addition, iPQ's site offers career guidance resources and questionnaires to help you hone in on what you really want to do in your career.

    4. Pocket Resume

    Pocket Resume makes it easy to customize your resume for each job by using modules for each of its sections. No more Word templates! The app pulls info from your LinkedIn profile to create an updated resume, and it's easy to export to PDF or send to DropBox. You can also reorder your resume's sections, depending on the job for which you're applying.

    What Does the Future Hold for Job-Search Apps?

    Job seekers love the flexibility of using mobile apps to find employment. They can react more quickly when a new job pops up, and they can search for jobs discreetly, even while at work.
