The San Francisco 49ers will be without inside linebacker Patrick Willis on Sunday night against the Houston Texans.
The All-Pro is inactive and will miss his second straight game with a groin injury he suffered in Week 3 in a loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Willis, who practiced in a limited role during the week, worked out on the field Sunday and met with team physicians. The team felt it was too risky for Willis to play. Michael Wilhoite will start for Willis as he did in Week 4 against the Rams.
Also inactive for the 49ers was cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who missed his second straight game with a knee injury. The 49ers are also without linebacker Aldon Smith for the second straight game while he is undergoing treatment for substance abuse.
