4K timelapse video of a massive forest fire is equal parts beautiful and scary

The massive forest fires that engulfed parts of California last summer were terrifying sights that nonetheless also make for captivating timelapse videos. Filmmaker Jeff Frost went inside this horrible fire to film some incredible footage that he’s now used to make a stunning timelapse video that is equal parts beautiful and scary.

In an article written for TheCreatorsProject, Frost explained that the night he made this video, the fire “went from 27,000 to 46,000 acres,” which means you can see it spreading incredibly quickly. The film also features some footage of the aftermath of the fire, including burned-out cars and houses.
