5.5-inch iPhone 6 and new iPads reportedly heading to production in September
A new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News says that Apple will start mass-producing the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, the second-generation iPad Air and the third-generation iPad mini in September, further confirming earlier stories on the matter.

Some previous reports said that Apple is experiencing certain production issues, especially with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model, which is why the handset will be delayed. Others disagreed, saying that Apple will intentionally delay the iPhone 6 phablet because the company doesn’t want to create any competition between the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions at launch.
Economic Daily News also mentions some manufacturing issues, saying that initial shipments will be small, but things should significantly improve later in the year.
According to previous reports, Apple’s manufacturing partners are expected to make between 70 million and 80 million of combined iPhone 6 units this year.
As for Apple’s 2014 iPads, the company is expected to release new iPad models following the iPhone 6’s launch, just like it did in previous years, although it’s not clear whether the new iPads will be launched alongside the 5.5-inch iPhone 6.
In addition to new iPhone and iPad models, Apple is seen launching an iWatch smartwatch later this year, as well as new Mac models. Earlier this year, Apple’s Eddy Cue revealed that Apple is currently working on the “best product pipeline in 25 years.”
