The plates are going to move around. It just happens that a lot of the plate separations are throughout the pacific region. Hopefully no one was hurt and the shaking was all there was. I was there during the 70's and the flightline concrete would look like water from the 5 point earthquakes. Interesting but somewhat scarey.

no wonder these earthquakes happening over the past years, but we cant blame man for doing this, no trillions of pounds of ore ,gold,silver, you think the electric wires in your house are from mixing water and flour? and not to mention oil, and anything else...if a part of your body were taken from you would you miss it?

our buildings cant withstand earthquakes of that magnitude!

Philippines is in the Pacific "rim of fire'. This is the nature of the beast, unfortunately. The real curse is the corrupt government.

5.8 ... does anyone follow the usgs.gov web site. These 5 pointers happen everyday. To me it is a big deal, but why does the press jump on this one. There are many others of this past week alone to talk about if we are going to make a big deal out of this one. I will say this... the bigger ones seem to be making their way up the ring of fire toward Japan. Japan is having 6ers all the time as of lately. So I'm going to take a guess and say Japan is about to get a truely off the chart quake very soon. Here in the U S we have been lucky so far. As we all know luck runs out.

Bunch of morons making bad comment about Filipinos. When they should look at themselves on the mirror, before they judge others. No abusive corrupt government in Philippines get away with their greed and stupidity!!
