5 Foods the Experts Won't Eat

    1.  Chilean Sea Bass

Keith Ayoob, Associate Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine

"It's way over-fished and there are many other choices. I can't do that one, much as I used to love it."  Instead, Ayoob recommends occasional canned tuna and tuna sushi.

    2. Squeeze cheese

Diane Henderiks, R.D., Personal Chef/Culinary Nutritionist

This aerosol cheese is "so unnatural and processed, full of salt, phosphates, fat," says Henderiks.

    3.  Processed deli meats

Dr. David Katz, Director, Yale University Prevention Research Center

"What IS in them???" says Dr. Katz.

    4. Sugary breakfast cereals

Molly Kimball, R.D., Nutrition Program Manager, Ochsner's Elmwood Fitness Center

"I find that a sugar-filled breakfast or snack can be one of the biggest triggers for even more hunger, more carb cravings, more sweets cravings," says Kimball.  Instead, she suggests breakfasts that are packed with protein like a turkey wrap on a high fiber tortilla or Protein Plus Special K cereal.

    5.  Raw oysters

Dr.Jay Brooks, Chairman of the Department of Hematology/Oncology at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation and Hospital

There is "risk of vibrio infections and uncooked meat E. Coli" in raw oysters, Brooks says.

I don't see squirrel or possom on the list so I won't have to empty the freezer....I'm good for a couple of years in the event of world famine.

I like to eat raw oysters with squeeze cheese on them, served over frosted flakes, with cold cuts and chilean sea bass for desert. This article really ruined my day.

Well eating a bololgna sandwich sure beats starving to death, wouldn't it?

1 - I'm an eat to live kind of guy, so you'd never catch me wasting my money on an overpriced marketing ploy like Chilean Sea Bass

2, 3, 4 -- What kind of adult eats cheese wiz, baloney, and Fruity Pebbles?

5 - I know people who have been eating raw oysters their entire lives and never had problems. Seems like the risk is pretty minuscule.

If you avoid everything that can kill you, you will still die. Eat the #$%$ oysters. They're great. So is Captain Crunch Cereal. And an Italian Sub is great. Everything in moderation.

Well, I'm good and it didn't even take an expert to tell me..

2 - Nobody eats that stuff. Except for maybe a few hardcore pot heads.
4 - Yeah right, I'm sure kids would be thrilled to get a high-fiber turkey wrap for breakfast instead of their Cocoa Crispies.

Eat what you like, in moderation. I mean, if you get hit by a bus, what you ate that morning for breakfast didn't really do much for you now did it?

Turkey wrap on a high-fiber tortilla for breakfast? I'm going back to bed to dream of Aunt Jemima and her flapjacks.

Cheez wiz!!?? can that crap be classified as a food? Raw oysters...the gods were very good to us when they invented those. Sugar cereal, I classify this like cookies. Has anyone ever seen an IHop commercial?, sugar upon sugar upon sugar. Sea Bass, I can't afford it but I have lately been eating much more sustainable fish. I have been cutting down on the processed meats.

I also notice all of the chain restaurant ads where they pour HFCS on everything. They call it "sweet and savory sauce" or whatever. ULKK!

Ohh, how I could go for a big platter of Chilean sea bass stuffed with process deli ham and squeeze cheese, covered with raw oyster sauce.

I LOVE RAW OYSTERS. Cooked shellfish (oysters and clams) is gross, man. Crab and lobster are OK steamed. Love fresh atlantic bluefin tuna, too! OH YUM!!

Um, I know plenty of "experts" that eat raw oysters. It's a calculated risk, like eating anything undercooked, i.e., sushi, red meat, etc...
