JON ROTHSTEIN: Hi, this is Jon Rothstein with Yahoo Sports. Time now to spotlight five teams on the rise for the 2020-21 college basketball season.

We start in Storrs, Connecticut, with the UConn Huskies. Dan Hurley will have UConn back in the NCAA Tournament in 2021. James Bouknight will be one of the best guards in the Big East and maybe even the country as a sophomore, and Hurley will add two impact additions in transfer RJ Cole and top 50 freshman Andre Jackson.

St. Louis is a team that should also flourish next season. Travis Ford has one of the better one-two punches in the country in Jordan Goodwin and Hasahn French, both of whom averaged a double-double last season, as well as a burgeoning star in the Atlantic 10 in Javonte Perkins. St. Louis last year won 23 games before even playing a game in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Looking for next season's Penn State? It could be Georgia Tech under Josh Pastner. The Yellow Jackets have a terrific perimeter led by Jose Alvarado and Michael Devoe. Georgia Tech has continuity and should be right in the mix for an NCAA Tournament berth next season.

Tennessee should go from a middle of the pack team in the SEC to a team that should challenge Kentucky at the top of the conference standings. Rick Barnes brings back a terrific nucleus led by point guard Santiago Vescovi as well as interior presences Yves Pons and John Fulkerson. Barnes also adds a terrific recruiting class led by wing Jaden Springer.

And lastly, Houston and Kelvin Sampson are primed to dominate the American Conference next season. The Cougars had one of the more deep perimeters in college basketball last season. The majority of that returns, led by do-everything guard Nate Hinton, one of the great intangible players we saw last year in college basketball. Sampson will also add a top 50 point guard and an impact transfer in Cam Tyson, who should fit in well in Houston's deep perimeter attack.

Those are five teams on the rise for the 2021 college basketball season. I'm Jon Rothstein. This is Yahoo Sports.
