50 Cent visits famine victims in Somalia, Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Rapper 50 Cent is teaming up with the World Food Program to see firsthand the effects of hunger in Somalia and Kenya.

The rap star flew to Dolo, Somalia, on Wednesday. Tens of thousands of women and children have fled there over the last year to flee a devastating famine that killed tens of thousands of people across Somalia.

WFP said the rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has committed to provide 1 billion meals for the hungry, and is donating to WFP 10 cents from every sale of a new energy drink called Street King that he is promoting.

The U.N. last week declared an end to Somalia's six-month famine, though it said tens of thousands of people still need food aid to survive. The British government estimates that between 50,000 and 100,000 people died from the famine's effects.

He is setting an example of giving. Sharing a portion of every single sale of an energy drink is not a small donation... I don't see coca- cola donating a portion of profits to anything...Gatorade, nope.... Pepsi, nope...Sure it's a touch of a marketing campaign. But so many people will buy those other products over Street king, and none of the sale will help anyone but the ceo's year end bonus of however many millions of dollars! 50 is giving, nobody else is.

Hate him or love him, that's your own preference but remeber either you or one of your family members actually made him rich (fact) some few years back. Saul killed alot of christians and changed his life around to be a christian. Who said 50 has changed, just coz he's giving to someone needy doesn't make him a pussy. Yes he'll be giving out 10 cents from his money, what are you giving. Nigga is still making money whether you drink his energy drink or not, check what he made on his superbowl bet. Don't hate appreciate and congratulate him on what he is doing. Have a giving day.

Charity is a noble thing that Christians and people believe in. I’m surprised Mr. Jackson has found the time to give back to the less fortunate. That’s what makes the world a better place one person helping another. Great job 50.

I think it is a great thing!!! Most all celebrity blacks claim Africa as home but do nothing to help the insane human loss and brutality going on over there (Besides Oprah). If more black athletes, artist and celebs did more lives would be saved.

People love to comment on other people lives. At least 50 cent is doing something. What are you doing to contribute to the human race... Not a #$%$ thing but negativity.
