7-car Manatee County crash leaves 7-year-old, woman dead

A 38-year-old woman and 7-year-old boy died in a seven-car crash in Manatee County on Friday.

A sedan was on the outside lane of US-301, approaching Tallevast Road at 9:45 p.m. and collided with the rear of a second sedan, which collided with another car in the right-turn lane and overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol crash report.

The first sedan collided with four other cars, leaving the driver with serious injuries. The driver and passenger of the overturned sedan – a 38-year-old woman and 7-year-old boy from Ellenton – were pronounced dead at the scene.

The FHP will continue to investigate the crash.
