Up to 70% of Russian missiles shot down by Ukraine’s air defenses, says Kyiv military head

Major General Mykola Zhyrnov gave the shoot-down figures in an interview with Army Inform published on Sept. 3.

"An analysis of Russian air-missile strikes shows that from 50 to 70% of enemy missiles are shot down by air defenses – both aircraft and anti-aircraft missile units," Zhyrnov said.
He said that today Ukraine cannot ensure the 100% effectiveness of its air defenses due to an insufficient number of recon, aviation, and anti-aircraft missile systems.

"Basically, these are Soviet systems, which do not have the same efficiency and reliability as the air defense equipment of NATO partner states," Zhyrnov said.
He said that as long as the enemy has missile and air weapons, there will be no way to eliminate the threat of enemy attacks from the sky.

"But it can be stated that the enemy cannot use its air strike capability with impunity, nor can they ensure the effectiveness of their missile strikes," Zhyrnov said.
