Accidents happen — even to the most responsible kids.

Eight-year-old Waka, who lives in Japan, accidentally didn't close his water bottle completely when he put it into his bag, and the bottle then leaked all over his precious Nintendo 3DS.

Crushed by the incident, Waka wrote a sweet note to Nintendo, apologizing for not keeping a closer eye on his favorite toy.

The note translates to English as, "I am sorry for soaking my 3DS in water. 3DS was always with me—I think I am determined to say goodbye. From now on, I will make sure to tightly close my water bottle. I sincerely apologize," according to Buzzfeed.

Luckily for Waka, he didn't have to say goodbye to his console, which he's had for more than a year. Instead, his mother told Buzzfeed that she is sending it to the manufacturer to be fixed — and Waka paid for the repair costs from his allowance. Apparently, responsibility can start at an early age.

On Thursday, Waka finally received his 3DS, as good as new. He wrote a new note, thanking people for their support on social media.

Translation: "My 3DS has come back. The inside was pretty much the same, but the outside was clean and new. However, I am just happy that my 3DS came back to me. Everyone on [Twitter], thank you for your support. I will continue to treasure my 3DS."

Next time we crack our iPhone screen by dropping it on the subway platform, we fully intend to write a note to Apple.
