The 9 best-selling smartphones in Japan are all iPhones

How to stop iPhone apps from tracking your location without you knowing

Apple’s iPhone 5s is, by all counts, the best-selling smartphone on the planet by a pretty wide margin. On the other hand, the iPhone 5c has apparently been a mixed bag for Apple. While the phone seems to be fairly popular in some regions and one market research firm believes the phone is exactly what Apple needed, production orders were reportedly slashed pretty early on as demand wasn’t quite where Apple thought it would be. In Japan, however, demand is apparently very strong — various versions of Apple’s iPhones comprise all nine of the nine best-selling smartphones in the country.

As noted by Forbes, Japanese cell phone sales tracker BCN paints a pretty clear picture of how Apple’s iPhone lineup is faring in Japan. And it’s faring quite well.

Among the 20 best-selling smartphones in Japan for the week ending on December 1st, Apple’s flagship iPhone 5s with varying amounts of storage and on various carriers occupies the following sales slots: No. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12 and 14. The iPhone 5c with varying storage sizes sits at No. 4, 8 and 20.

Of the 10 best-selling smartphones in Japan, numbers one through nine are all iPhones.

Apple has clearly advanced its position in Japan by adding NTT DoCoMo as a partner and now, it will look to do the same in China by launching its iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c with China Mobile.
