9 Delicious Desserts to Make with Beer

Even though the official celebration of Oktoberfest in Germany has already come and gone (beer tents opened up on September 20 and closed on October 5), we’re happy to find any excuse to extend our beer love throughout October.

What better way to keep the Oktoberfest spirit alive than sharing some of our favorite beer-inspired recipes? We’ve uncovered many creative ways to cook with beer in the kitchen, but decided it was time to up the sweet factor, so we asked our test kitchen expert, Kim Laidlaw, to create beer desserts that highlight two of our favorite baking ingredients: chocolate and ginger. And wow, did she deliver! Here are 9 insanely addictive treats to sweeten up your fall and carry you through the holiday season, broken up into: brownies, gingerbread, and old-school favorites.

The only thing that could possibly make cooking with beer even better—well, besides the fact that you also get to drink it—is baking with it, so why not extend Oktoberfest this year? Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good excuse to drink beer, listen to a little oompah music, and nibble on brownies, gingerbread, and ice cream. Fortunately, beer doesn’t stain lederhosen if you catch it right away, so we say go for it. Prost!
