A11 roadworks in Norfolk send drivers on 64-mile diversion

Drivers are being advised of a 64-mile diversion on a dual carriageway because of roadworks.

The A11 in Norfolk, between Attleborough and the London Road roundabout at Thetford, is being shut each night 20:00-06:00 BST between Tuesday and this Saturday.

National Highways said road markings and studs were being replaced.

The government-owned company said the recommended diversion was agreed with Norfolk County Council.

Northbound traffic was being diverted via the Cringleford Interchange at Norwich, the A47 Fakenham Road interchange, the A1065 near Swaffham, and the A134, eventually joining the A11 southbound Thetford bypass - a National Highways spokesperson said.

The roadworks mark the beginning of phase four of the National Highways work on the major road.
