AAA: Gas prices up 2 cents this week in RI
Average cost of gas climbs 2 cents to $3.54 a gallon; RI price 23 cents above national average
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- The cost of gasoline in Rhode Island has inched up 2 cents, leaving the current local price significantly above the U.S. average.
The latest price survey released Monday by AAA Southern New England found the average cost of a gallon of self-serve regular in the state is $3.54.
Local prices are up 6 cents in the last month. The current price is 23 cents higher than the national per-gallon average of $3.31.
A year ago at this time the average in the state was 3 cents less, or $3.51 a gallon.
The survey found a 21-cent price range, with a low of $3.47 and a high of $3.68.
