Abandoned toddler rescued from garbage in Spain

MADRID (AP) — An official says a 2-year-old girl has been rescued from a dumpster after her parents abandoned her.

He says residents of the southeastern town of Cabezo de Torres were alarmed by sobbing sounds coming from the garbage container late Saturday and after removing several plastic bags of refuse found the girl "crying, sweating and with panic showing in her face."

The toddler's parents have been identified and arrested, and are awaiting trial on suspicion of having abandoned a minor, the official said Sunday on condition of anonymity in keeping with ministry rules.

At least in Spain something like this makes headlines. In other regions of the world - India comes to mind - abandoned girls are too numerous to mention.

      Thanks ma. Thanks dad.
Wow. What a couple of low lives.

I have to agree with the majority of comments here, especially when there are thousands of people here who would have welcomed a little girl with open arms and hearts. Her purported mother and father need to be thrown into the sea, way, way out.

Poor baby!!! Things can only get better after this because there will be dozens of people that want you more than your parents ever did.!!! God please continue to bless and protect this sweet child from harm.

If a god had been protecting this poor child she wouldn't have ended up with such scum for parents, and the parents wouldn't have dumped her in the garbage.

        You are correct Cmsmoker,

It is great this child was found, but many others have not been found, and Jehovah God will resurrect them to eternal life and happiness in the future, Ps. 72: 12-14, Rev. 21: 4.

        Respectfully Chipmunk,
God is not responsible for the evil of humans that have free will. James 1: 13. But these parents will not escape judgement.

Thank goodness she was found. I hope she gets a Mom and Dad that love her.

How about attempted MURDER instead of just child neglect!! They were trying to kill that baby!!! Deserve the death penalty...BOTH of them!
      • anonymous 9 mths ago
so you condemn (rightfully so) the parents for attempting to murder their child and then demand the DEATH penalty? People condemn murder and then demand it at the same time.
      • lizzie 9 mths ago
We condemn murder of the innocent and embrace murder of murderers.

Wow really? isn't this what orphanages are for?
    • askbabbs  •  9 mths ago
They will be lining up around the block to adopt the baby........as horrible as what happened to her, she will now be much better off with a family who will love her.
      • Come Mierda 9 mths ago
I hope so! I think because this was in the news many people come forward to adopt her.
    • LEK  •  9 mths ago
I would take he in a heartbeat. My sister who has been trying for years would LOVE to have her. I hope she is taken care of well. Poor baby...
    • Come Mierda  •  9 mths ago
Oh sweet Jesus, this is just heart breaking! I would take that baby if they didn't want her! How can someone just discard of a child like a piece of trash? Heartless a____holes!
    • vote2012  •  9 mths ago
How hard is it to go take you child to a adoption agency or at least a shelter? Low life most likely on crack and working on another right now. Steralize these people. When you harm a child it becomes the worlds business. Rob a bank who cares.
    • Temptress  •  9 mths ago
I just don't get it. There are soooo many people that want a child and would of adopted her. Why throw a child away when you can give up your rights and have her go to a home that would want and love her. So very sad when I read this kind of stuff.

Put the parents in bags and throw them in the trash.

I agree with the other posters... I am so glad she was found. It could have been a lot worse.
    • Boodica  •  9 mths ago
They will be thoroughly punished. Spain has very tough legislation guaranteeing the health, safety and well-being of minors, and those violating children's rights end up in jail.

Poor little thing...old enough to trust mommy and daddy to take care of her and they leave her in a garbage dumpter.
