ABC Family Renews Chasing Life for Season 2

ABC Family has given Chasing Life a new lease on life and me something to be very excited about.

The excellent freshman series, which stars Italia Ricci as April Carver, an ambitious young journalist who's also a 24-year-old cancer patient, has been renewed for a second season, the network announced Thursday.

The one-hour drama debuted in June and also stars Mary Page Keller as April's mother Sara, Haley Ramm as April's younger sister Brenna, and Steven Weber as April's uncle and doctor. Don't be fooled by the logline, however, because the show is about more than just living with cancer. Chasing Life chronicles the very real ups and downs that April experiences as she juggles her career aspirations, her personal relationships, and, yes, her illness... among other things. Plus, the show still finds plenty of time to explore the lives of her friends and family.

In August, I gave you five reasons why you should definitely be watching Chasing Life (hint: it's not depressing, nor is it melodramatic), but if you still haven't caught up on the first 10 episodes, you now have until Tuesday, December 9 at 9pm to do so. That's when the show will return with a special episode (perhaps we'll learn the outcome of that cliffhanger involving Scott Michael Foster's Leo Hendrie?!?) before it officially begins the second half of its first season in January 2015.
