RESTON, Va., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Information Governance (IG) software company Active Navigation today announced it had been selected by the U.S. Army to provide its IG solution to facilitate the discovery and preparation of data from legacy systems prior to its migration into the new Defense Enterprise Portal Service (DEPS), managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
DISA is a combat support agency which provides network and computing infrastructure, as well as enterprise services, to support information sharing for all Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. DEPS provides a scalable, cloud-based collaboration capability for its community of mission-focused sites. These Mission Partners, including the Army, must convert the management and cataloging of unstructured data to the DEPS system and ensure it conforms to the data standards of the Army Records Management strategy.
The Active Navigation solution will allow military personnel and authorized contractors to discover, remediate, tag, and organize their data to meet the Army's specific requirements. The solution will cut costs considerably as it significantly reduces the amount of data to be stored as well as the need for this data to be manually remediated and augmented with metadata.
According to the U.S. Army Award Contract the Active Navigation product "provides a complete 'End-to- End' solution for the purpose of supporting the transfer of the Army IT data to the DISA DEPS (SharePoint 2010) platform and the DISA DEPS infrastructure."
"We are pleased to be recognized as the provider of choice for advanced Information Governance and File Analytic solutions by the U.S. Army," said Peter Baumann, CEO, Active Navigation. "Our solutions help the military and other government organizations migrate important information to more advanced platforms easily and efficiently, saving money and man hours."
