Adblock Plus for Safari for Mac is designed to block ads from appearing on certain websites and with certain services in your Safari browser. While there are a handful of exceptions in how the app blocks ads, it generally works quite well in the background, without interfering with your general browsing experience.
Pros
Very easy installation process: After downloading the extension, run it and Adblock Plus will start blocking ads in Safari. There are no additional installation steps or extra software installed or run through your browser, making this an easy upgrade to make if you regularly browse content with Safari alone.
Quiet, background ad blocking: After installation, Adblock runs automatically in the background. Ads that would normally appear on the screen are replaced with white space. A small Adblock icon at the top of the browser will show notifications for any ads that are successfully blocked, and if you are on a site for which you want to see ads, you can turn it off only for that site.
Cons
There are some exceptions: Adblock doesn't work perfectly on all sites and services. There are some sites, such as Google, that have made exceptions with Adblock to show the ads there anyway. Additionally there are others that can recognize ad blocking software and won't show videos or content if it is blocked. You can always turn it off to access that content, but keep in mind that it's not a perfect solution.
