Manchester, UK (PRWEB) December 01, 2011
Whilst the partnership has been going from strength to strength, the companies are now pleased to announce their latest exciting project, which involves a Centre of Excellence Eco-Park, a complex structure with sustainable ecological design. Each process in the plant produces waste which then becomes the resource of another process, creating almost negligible waste and emissions.
The project itself includes some 300 acres of land which will be developed to include the world’s largest aquaponics facility, combining hydroponics and aquaculture, the largest waste to energy facility, and a centre of excellence eco-park, with university grade research and development centres. The research centres will focus on developing renewable power, sustainable food sources and forestry, again contributing on an environmental and ecological level.
AHEB Investment Group Managing Director Mr Andreas Charalambous says that the project will not only deliver sustainable grid quality energy supplies, but will also help improve exports. “The Eco Park will be producing extremely high quality timber, vegetables and fish which will be available for export or for domestic consumption. Some of the waste emissions of the power production facility will also become supplies. For example, heat emissions will be used to warm the facility during winter or cool it in summer. Purified carbon dioxide emissions will enhance the photosynthesis action to produce higher farming yields and very high quality fruit growth.”
The plantations will also be designed to absorb carbon dioxide from the surrounding environment thereby contributing to carbon sequestration. A desalination facility will provide approximately 15,000 cubic metres of water for both the site and local infrastructure, through effective use of the heat from the power generation process.
Charalambous goes on to say that the produce from the hydroponics and aquaculture facilities will be of a very high premium quality. “Whilst this proposed project is of an enormous size and is a huge undertaking, the combined resources and expertise of the project sponsors and associates undertaking this will ensure that it is wholly deliverable in a timely and cost effective manner. The products produced as a result of these processes such as the fish and fruit will be exported into Europe and the Middle East, thereby posing no commercial threat to local hydroponic and aquaculture and providing a unique and profitable business model for the waste facility."
David Hamilton, from QuickSilver Project Management Ltd, says of the project: ‘We are delighted to once again partner with AHEB Investment Group on a project of this scale and complexity as these are the cases where our expertise in controlling resources and budgets makes a difference. Our job is to ensure that the Eco-Park project owners meet the project goals and objectives whilst working effectively within the constraints of both budgets and time.”
