Air passenger arrested for not turning off phone

If there is a law, just fuckin abide by it! If you don't, get punished! I would have arrested him also, fine him big time, make him do community service and let it go on his record. Just follow the rules people! I do, and have NEVER been in trouble.

Keep throwing out resources and tax dollars down the drain. Seriously arresting him for this? Come on... Ya all complain about being under funded and over worked yet waste resources on something as dumb as this.

Its about time they arrested these arrogant SOB's. The rules are in place for a reason . Theie is no phone call that could not have waited another 2 or 3 minutes so I hope he has to pay thousands in fines to teach his arrogant ass a lesson.

Even though I think arresting the man is absurd and excessive, I do believe he should have waited till he got off the plane to call someone, and simply turned his phone off when asked to do so. In this day and age, especially near 9/11 anniversary, it is not wise to flaunt the rules

Besides being in the Dark Ages State of Texass, do not fly Southwest if your an independent, or creative. Check Southwest history of have passengers kicked off for being too chubby, wearing non conservative clothing. Southwest Air sucks. They also use cheap filters in their filtration systems (maybe).

There is absolutely no interference from passenger gps systems or cell phones. The two technologies operate on very different frequencies. If the planes electronics reacted to cell phones, what do you think would happen when they flew near the cellphone towers which operate on signal levels orders of magnitude higher than what a cell phone puts out. This whole thing is meant to keep order in a plane, so that the whole cabin does not sound like a public cafeteria. Lets not mention the cost per minute of in flight phone service, or wifi. These are things the airline wants to charge for as well.

Considering the increasingly oppressive federal regulations and absurdly abusive airline industry pricing, it's surprising that anyone chooses to fly at all.

Rapidly advancing technologies, when properly applied, will eventually have the same effect on business based air travel that email had on the postal service.

They can charge you $6 a minute for using the on-board cell phone...the "risk" is they might lose some revenue. Their plane, their rules (well, FAA)...got a problem with it, buy a plane, get a pilots license, fly yourself.
