Ajax beats Heerenveen in Dutch league, remains top

AMSTERDAM (AP) — Ajax midfielder Lasse Schone scored a hat trick to give the Dutch league leaders a 3-0 victory over SC Heerenveen on Sunday.

The Dane converted two penalties in the first half, after a tackle on Siem de Jong inside the box by Joey van den Berg and a hand ball by Stefano Marzo. Ajax dominated the match, but Schone was made to wait until the 82nd minute to score his third, capitalizing on a pass from Viktor Fischer.

FC Twente beat Vitesse Arnhem 2-0 in a match between Ajax's nearest title rivals in Enschede. Twente now trails Ajax by four points.

Feyenoord Rotterdam moved into third place with a 1-1 draw against NAC Breda, as Vitesse slipped to fourth.
