Al-Qaida chief urges Islamic rule in Libya

CAIRO (AP) — Al-Qaida's new leader called on Libyan fighters who overthrew Moammar Gadhafi to set up an Islamic state and urged Algerians to revolt against their longtime president in a new Internet video posted on Wednesday.

Ayman al-Zawahri warned Libyan revolutionaries to protect their gains against "Western plots," claiming NATO will demand they give up their Islamic faith as the country sets up a new government.

"The first thing NATO will ask you to do, is to give up your Islam and not to implement Islamic Sharia law," al-Zawahri said "They want the nonreligious and the atheists who don't accept Sharia to rule the Islamic world."

The 13-minute video entitled "And the defeats of Americans continue" was released by al-Qaida's media arm and surfaced on militant websites. It shows al-Zawahri, wearing a white robe and turban, sitting against a green backdrop.

Al-Zawahri, who is Egyptian, also urged Algerians to revolt against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and follow the examples of Arab uprisings that toppled the autocratic rulers in Egypt and Tunisia.

"Why don't you revolt against your tyranny, Algerian lions," al-Zawahri asked.

Al-Qaida has long opposed the regimes of autocratic Arab leaders the terror group views as godless, corrupt and too closely allied with the United States, and has called for the establishment of Islamic rule to replace their regimes.

However, the Arab Spring uprisings have largely been driven by those calling for freedom, human rights and democracy.

Al-Zawahri was Osama bin Laden's deputy and became head of al-Qaida in June after bin Laden's death in the May 2 raid by U.S. Navy SEALs in Pakistan.

In Wednesday's video, al-Zawahri also praised an August militant attack in southern Israel, when gunmen crossed from Egypt and killed eight Israelis near a Red Sea resort.

Libya should have the freedom to choose what they want. They should work with the world to to help their people. Religion should be their guidence not their leader.

the Islamists are at the back of the line of the Arab spring, they had nothing to do with these uprisings. al Queda has lost its relevancy, their time has been up since Tora Bora.

Denis Halliday resigned in protest because he found the American Iraqi policies genocidal. According to him sanctions against Iraq were intended, designed and sustained to kill civilians particularly children and that over one million people were allowed to die directly due to the impact of UN sanctions.

Hallidays successor Hans von Sponeck , resigned two years later when he concluded that the sanctions violated the Genocide Convention. The democratically elected Clinton barred Hans from providing information about the impact of the Security council. Albright’s spokesperson James Rubin explained “this man in Baghdad is paid to work, not to speak” That is the sort of democracy the US follows in militarily and politically dominating the world.

A poll by World Learning/Aspen Institute found that 75% of Americans believe U.S. foreign policy is driving dissatisfaction with America abroad and more than 60% believe that dislike American values is also to blame.

But the U.S. political Admin is indifferent towards such majority opinions and the greedy minority opinion of the MIC of the U.S. get the preference.

The basis of Islam is about submitting to the Will of Allah --- the basis of Democracy is about submitting to the will of the masses of people.

*The basis of modern-day secular democracy is seperation of Religion from politics while Islam is in every aspect of Life from top to bottom.

*The basis of Democracy is the freedom to slander and blasphemize and scandalize and provoke (a.k.a. aspects of freedom of speech) .... The sharee'ah does not allow people to cause commotion and corruption in the land.

*The basis of elections in many Democracies, for someone who really wants to get elected, is often shameless self-promotion and self aggrandizement and belittlement and scandalizing and publicizing of others' hidden personal problems to get elected ---- these are against the manners of Islam. Islam promotes humility and humbleness and prohibits publicizing the hidden personal-life sins of your brother or sister that they don't already do openly and unabashedly or announce or brag about themselves.

In democracy you can vote to add and remove laws according to the whims and desires of the people, in Islam it is absolutely prohibited to change any law that is authentically firmly established in the Qur'an and the Prophetic Teachings. You can't permit drinking of alcohol for instance by voting about it.

      Just some examples

Islam is different in general from the modern-day western Democracy. There may be points that can be agreed upon but many of the foundations are fundementally different.

The Pakistani judge is a bold democrat. He shows that even amidst the horrible political and military mess of Pakistan, there is shining democratic rights and bold and independent freedom of expression as we indians have in our nation. Many wonder whether the US politicians and judges can outdo the Pakitani judge regarding freedom of speech and media restrictions. America's attempts to strangulate Wiki leaks clearly shows that the US is a namkevaste democracy when it deals in foreign matters but a healthy democracy in domestic affairs. This is necessary to hoodwink the americans and opiate them towards Americans dream of building the worlds biggest empire. The US is very religious in choosing its allies and enemies, but american criteria are very clear, that is subordination to the US’s economic and military goals and service to american corporate interests.

In a democracy people could on occasions be swept away by the power of demagogue as we have in India.

The politicians who voted into power invite little participation by the electorate. This is where the good concept of democracy and its erratic practice receive a hit below the belt.

But people speak different languages, have different dress codes, our cuisine is different, geography and history is different, our educational systems are different. Is it really necessary for the entire world to accept and adopt one single system of government?

The misadventure with democracy witnessed in many countries over the past several decades has proved that this man-made system is not the panacea

when the overseas liberating, destructing and deceivingly constructing powers set their minds on introducing democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan we asked ourselves if the people were - socially, politically and emotionally - mature enough to distinguish between jackals and jackasses?

The road to democracy is a long and arduous one. Religious beliefs have to be understood and appreciated. Institutions need to be created, and an environment of government of the people, for the people and by the people within the limits to be addressed
Democracy is not a divine system; it has its shortcomings. But good leaders who have the interest of their country close to their heart are hard to come by. Lack of such people can weaken even the best of concepts and the most efficient of the system.

Can somebody please shut this guy up? The rebel's main demand was "Freedom"... why the heck would they do the complete opposite and accept Sharia where there is absolutely no freedom?
