    Altius Education Sponsors 70 Bay Area Students from Envision Schools to Receive Personalized College Success Coaching from Beyond 12

    Three Bay Area education innovators team up to improve college retention by providing high school seniors with college coaches.

    Altius Education, a San Francisco-based provider of higher education, will sponsor a personalized coaching program for 70 Bay Area students as they make the transition from high school to college. The new partnership between three Bay Area education innovators—Altius Education, Beyond 12, and Envision Schools—will provide students with a personalized and supported pathway to a bachelor’s degree.

    “Beyond 12’s coaching program is very similar to the success coaching program Altius offers through our online institution Ivy Bridge College,” explained Altius Education CEO, Paul Freedman. “Research has shown that having someone to talk to who has been through the college experience is one of the most critical factors affecting a student’s success in postsecondary education. We’re excited to provide Envision students with the opportunity to benefit from success coaching the same way our Ivy Bridge College students have.”

    Beyond 12’s personalized coaching and college success program pairs students with college coaches who are recent alumni of the school a student plans to attend or whose experiences closely align with a student’s academic and personal goals. The program begins with a college success session students attend the summer after their senior year of high school. Then, once students arrive on their college campuses, they meet with their coaches weekly to go over the academic, social, and life changes and challenges that are inherent in the college experience.

    The students sponsored by Altius Education will come from one of four San Francisco Bay Area public schools in the Envision Schools network. Envision Schools serve over 1,300 students from a diverse range of ethnic, economic, linguistic, and national backgrounds–many of which are the first in their family to attend college. By employing rigorous college-preparatory curricula, personalized learning environments, and emphasis on measurable results, Envision Schools has helped its students achieve at high levels.

    Now, thanks to the new sponsorship from Altius Education, 70 Envision students will continue to receive support even after they enroll in a college program.

Beyond 12’s coaching program is a great example of how mentorship and academic counseling can help students successfully bridge the gap between high school and college.”

      Wow, what a great program. Having a support system while you are transitioning to college is helpful for anyone, especially kids who are the first to go to college in their family.
