Some saw the parody as edgy and hilarious.

Others thought it came too soon after the massacre at the Oregon community college earlier this month.

While some pro-gun advocates expressed their frustration:

In one unscientific online poll, 83 percent said it was in good humor 17 percent said it went too far, according to NBC News.

Schumer has been speaking on the issue since last July, when she appeared at a press conference with her cousin, New York Senator Chuck Schumer.

She lashed out after a gunman opened fire inside a movie theater that was showing her hit film Trainwreck in Louisiana, killing two young women.

Chuck Schumer told CNN over the summer: “She has stuck to her promise. Everyone vows to do something after a terrible tragedy and she has stuck to it.”
