Ancelotti: James for the future

Ancelotti hails 'professional' Real

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says the club signed World Cup star James Rodriguez with the future in mind. The Colombia international, who won the Golden Boot award at the showpiece tournament in Brazil, joined Los Galacticos earlier this week from Monaco for around £80 million. Ancelotti was quizzed whether the 22-year-old was the type of player his side needed, and he revealed that he feels that James is someone who can contribute now and in the long run. "Madrid's history will tell you that they always want to have the best players and ones with a future," he told Spanish publication AS. "We have signed one of the World Cup's stars. You need these kinds of players for the future, not just for the present, too." The Italian tactician also confirmed that James will first join up with the squad along with Madrid's other World Cup representatives on August 1. "James finished the World Cup on 30 June and needs a month of holidays and a break," Ancelotti added. "He will start on 1 August with Benzema and Varane." There has been speculation that James' arrival signals the end of Angel Di Maria's stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Ancelotti does not want the Argentina international to leave. "Di María is a Real Madrid player, there's a lot more competition with Kroos and James, but I think at all big clubs there's competition," he said.
