Users are activating more than 900,000 Android devices every day, tweeted Google's Android chief Andy Rubin.

Rubin also addressed recent speculations that he might be leaving Google to join a mysterious startup called Cloudcar with one short sentence: "No plans to leave Google."

He later explained how the rumor started on his Google+ account. "Cloudcar are a group of friends who I give free office space to in my incubator in Los Altos."

At the Mobile World Congress in February 2012, Rubin announced that 850,000 Android devices are activated daily. In December 2011, this figure was 700,000.

Even though the tempo seems to have slowed down a bit, at this pace Google is likely to hit 1,000,000 Android activations each day by the end of 2012.
