Angola's central bank lifts benchmark lending rate by 200 basis points to 16 pct

LUANDA (Reuters) - Angola's central bank raised its benchmark interest rate by 200 basis points to 16 percent on Thursday, it said on its website. The southern African nation, one of the continent's two largest oil producers, has been hit hard by the slump in global crude prices, which has ramped up pressure on its kwanza currency and increased the prices of goods in the economy, the central bank said.
